  • Changing classroom teaching and learning practices during the infusion of pedagogical innovations with the use of digital media.
  • The generation of mathematical and scientific meanings with the use of digital media.
  • Challenges to teacher beliefs and practices within TPD-based communities of practice.
  • Pedagogical design of the authoring system E-slate and E-slate products such as Turtleworlds, Datahandler and Dynamic Scenes.
  • Pedagogical design of the 3D authoring system MachineLab and MachineLab products such as MaLT, a 3D Turtleworlds.
  • Pedagogical design of Cruislet for Mathematics in Geographical Spaces.

ETL has adopted a constructionist approach to learning with digital media, focuses on the generation of meanings and challenge of beliefs, works with programmable tools and has coined the term ‘half-baked microworlds’ to denote the idea of malleable curriculum as a level for change. It has contributed to the design of large scale interventions aiming to infuse added value in educational practice based on the use of digital technologies. It has created an informal education site called ‘Polymechanon’ for collaborative playful learning with robotics and kinesthetic control of digital media.
